My husband and I were super lazy so we ordered via Uber Eats. My husband saw that they served breakfast all day so he ordered a 3 Egg Vegi Omelette with rice and a side of hash browns. He really enjoyed his food but he kind of wish there were more veggies I tried the Chicken Salad. OMG I loved the salad. There was a lot of cilantro, which I loved. It had the right amount of dressing and the chicken was soft and moist. I ate it all lol Will definitely have this again. My mom had the cutlet. She went crazy for their gravy. She said it was so good and very tasty. She gave half to my husband and he loved it. I give this place a 5 and hubby and mom said 4 so 4 it is. We rarely come here and I don't know why as we drive by the Ward location a few times a week. I told my husband we have to add Asahi Grill to our rotation of places that we eat at.

The tender oxtails, perfectly complemented by the freshness of green onions and Chinese parsley, offer a delightful harmony of flavors. This dish is a testament to the seamless blend of Chinese culinary traditions,Okinawa influences, and a unique local touch, making it a true staple for both locals and visitors. Every spoonful of this soul-warming soup is a celebration of Hawaii's diverse heritage, making Asahi Grill a must-visit destination for anyone seeking an authentic taste of the islands.

Always a quick and great experience. It's NOT fine dining, it's very casual. No nonsense diner atmosphere. Get seated, look at the menu, order. Food comes very quick, eat, and leave. It's what people call comfort food. Known for their oxtail soup and fried rice. Everything is good, even their breakfast items. But then again, you really can't mess up breakfast food. Staff is always very friendly, but again, don't expect a 5-star dining experience from a diner.

Unfortunately, we didn't make it in time for breakfast, but we still enjoyed our meal until it came down to paying the bill. I'll get to that part later. I was worried we wouldn't get a parking spot or that it'd take a while to get one, but luck was on our side! Got seated at a 4 top by the walkway to the kitchen, which wasn't the best because 2 people kept getting run into by the staff. Staff wasn't very friendly and never came by to check on us. The only time one of them was acting "nice" was because we caught them adding on a 15% tip to our original receipt--this was prior to paying. Nothing is itemized on the receipt, so you have to know how much your food is going to cost you, and pay attention to your receipt before paying. The waitress said they normally add on the 15% gratuity on $50+, but normally restaurants tell you that on their menu. The menu didn't mention that anywhere and there was nothing about that in the restaurant. No advertisement, nothing. She offered to take it off but we said we'd think about it and let her know. She ended up taking the charge off, but that was pointless because we just ended up giving her the 15% gratuity anyway. Kinda screwed yourself over on that one. Tourists beware! Pay attention to your receipts before paying them. We're not tourists, yet they still tried to be sneaky about the extra charge. Food was okay, except for the oxtail soup, which was amazing, and the fries. Thought the lap cheong fried rice would have more flavor and bigger pieces of meat, but that wasn't the case, which only left me disappointed. Also, the egg wasn't quite cooked enough, which made me feel a bit queasy. I hate it when the white of the egg isn't cooked enough and is still giggly leading up to the yolk. Normally I'd let the rice cook the egg more, but the rice wasn't hot enough to cook the egg more. That and the chicken katsu would be a hard pass next time. Curry is really tasty here, but katsu is way overcooked on the outside and super salty. Next time I'd get the oxtail soup. After all, that's what they're known for. But please do make sure to pay attention to the amount you're paying. You never know who they'll do that to again.

This was our go-to place for Oxtail soup pre-Covid and for a number of reasons we haven't been lately but the urge to try it again hit and we headed off for lunch during the lunch rush on a Friday. St. Park-Us the patron saint of parking lots was with us today and we got the last spot left and were able to be seated right away and order our lunches. If we all had ordered the Oxtail it would have come out lickety split but because we had a chicken katsu curry and a friend rice with egg, my oxtail came out in 3 minutes while the family had to endure my slurping and chomping on the perfect soup with rice and ginger. Delicious--tender and the broth was good, could have been more strongly beefy flavored, but still delcious. The fried rice was okay and the chicken katsu was overcooked, but the curry was very good. Those family members said they wouldn't get theirs again, but would try either the cheeseburger or the spaghetti next time. I didn't really listen to their complaints since I loved my Oxtail Soup so much. Overall, the majority of the diners had an Oxtail bowl in front of them with just a smattering of cheeseburgers or club sandwiches. The french fries are cooked to order and very crisp and hot--worth ordering. When the bill came, nothing was itemized and the receipt was just a bunch of numbers, no items listed, and a total. I mentally added up what we had and didn't recognize a charge at the end and when I asked what the $8.22 charge was for our waitress, who didn't smile at us once before, started grinning and talking about a bunch of stuff and then said that she would take it off. I asked what was the charge for and she said they add 15% to all bills over $50. I didn't see any warnings about that on the menus or the whiteboard. I started to pay it and we all said that she screwed herself bc we always leave 20-30%. When we gave her our credit card she brought the bill back and said that she took the charge off for us so we put the exact amount back on the tab at 15%. This was NOT an oversight and I think that customers need to be aware that this may happen and to check your receipts. This is the first time that a stealth tip has been added to our check. Hubby said that she was hoping that we would not notice and tip on the tip and leave 40%. Kinda sad to even have to write this about a local place. But the Oxtail soup is good!

As good as a Hawaiian diner gets! Fast polite service even during a busy dinner service. Prices reasonable for the large portions. Tried the famous oxtail soup and it did not disappoint. Lots of super soft tender oxtail, the broth was incredibly flavorful and rich but somehow light! Craving it already. Also had their lap cheong fried rice (so addictive, lots of sausage and topped with egg), combo donburi (so tasty too. The rice was soaked with that delicious sauce!), and the Asahi salad (I don't really think diners are the right place to order a salad but we wanted something lighter to go with the meal. It was alright but nothing to write home about.). Overall will def return, esp for the oxtail soup!

You won't believe how amazing this place is! All my family and friends from Japan are absolutely in love with it. And let me tell you, you just can't go wrong with their delicious menu. My personal favorite is their famous ox tail soup, served with a generous amount of ginger and coriander. It's simply out of this world! And when I shared the Chinese chicken salad with my family, they couldn't stop raving about it. But that's not all - my son's all-time favorite is their spaghetti and garlic bread. It's so good that he just can't get enough of it! So if you're in town, you absolutely must try their oxtail soup. Trust me, you won't regret it!

Last time I came here many years ago it was just okay, but was happy to come back here for lunch recently on a weekday with some coworkers and the food was really good! Prices are very reasonable compared to other places, and my dish was tasty. I got a chopped steak dish.

I have passed by this place 1 million times and finally took the opportunity to dine there with my brother and nephew. We came on a Sunday morning around 11am and there was enough parking. However by the time we left the restaurant was full and all tables taken. This is a great local restaurant that caters to local palette. I had the tan tan ramen and it was tasty. My companions also enjoyed their meal thoroughly. As i glanced around, it was evident that the fried rice is a fan favorite as well as the oxtail soup. Service was a little slow but we weren't in a hurry.

Mister and I brought my car to BMW for maintenance services. We decided while waiting for our car, that we should walk and find a kick-back spot and eat. And so we found this place, probably would never had thought of coming here otherwise. But certainly glad we did! We were seated right away. Waitress was friendly and service was fast. I ordered the grilled pork chop, tasted like what I make at home. It was cooked and seasoned perfectly. Mister enjoyed his chicken katsu too. Very satisfying meal, like homemade. The lunch crowd started coming in, didn't want to be rude and take up space so we left. Great service.
